Snow Day #1

Today we had our very first snow day. I really disklike winter weather so I'm not very happy about it. Our makeup day is on MLK Jr. Day on Monday. Bummed about not having a long weekend but I'm taking advantage of the day by working report cards that go home at the end of January. This is the first year that our school has finally gone to electronic report cards. It is so much better than what we had before! We actually had carbon-copy report cards that had so many negatives! How many of you have electronic report cards? Is there anyone still stuck in the stone-age of carbon-copy report cards?

Gingerbread Man Unit of Study

Christmas break is almost over and it will soon be time to get back to my little ones. Along with the many things we will do to start the year, I will begin my Gingerbread Man unit of study. In previous years I've started it in February but last year we were hit with a major blizzard and were only in school 9 days in February! This really put a damper on my plans so I've decided to start it in January this year just in case Old Man Winter bears his ugly head again! The unit of study starts with the book The Gingerbread Man by Jim Aylesworth. I'll continue to post things we are doing in this unit of study throughout the month! Do any of you have ideas that you do in your own classroom?

Sharing goosebumps

During teacher in-service this year, our superintendent showed us this video. It gave me goosebumps and I've had so many moments this year in my own classroom brought upon by my own students that have continued to give me goosebumps. I hope that through this blog, I'll be able to share my goosebumps with you!
